A.A. Bondy w/ Holly Miranda at the 400 Bar 6/20/09

A.A. Bondy played the 400 Bar on Saturday, a great night cap to a non-stop day.  The intimate venue was the perfect spot to end the hectic day, with one of my favorite artists.  I cannot get past how captivating he is on stage, and it’s not just me, as time almost seems to stop when he hits the stage.  I’ve never seen anyone silence a crowd vocally like he does.  We were in a very, noisy 400 Bar during the video above, and it essentially stopped as he started singing.  His new album will be out in September, and though I have an extreme fondness of American Hearts, the soon to be released When the Devil’s Loose is sure to be just as stimulating.  Hopefully he comes back in the fall with a larger setlist, which hopefully means a longer set.  Can’t get enough of this guy…

Unfortunately we were not able to cover Holly Miranda’s set as they were on at the same time as the Decemberists.  I’ve heard they’re great and hopefully MinnScene can catch them the next time.
